Energy sector in numbers

Solar Capacity

Grew from 2.6 GW in 2018 to 5.3 GW in 2022.

Solar now represents 40% of Greece's total renewable capacity.

Target: 13 GW by 2030, more than doubling the current capacity.

Wind Capacity

Increased from 2.8 GW in 2018 to 5.2 GW in 2023.

Generated 10.9 TWh of electricity in 2023.

Onshore installations growing by ~400 MW annually.

Investments

Clean energy investments exceeded $1.8 billion in 2022.

Rapid growth in both utility-scale and self-consumption renewable projects.

Greece is the 2nd most attractive country in the world for renewable energy investment relative to its GDP!

Ιnstalled renewable energy capacity in Greece has doubled in the last four years, with green energy now accounting for 50% of electricity generation. Ηigh energy prices and government support are driving the creation of local power generation communities.
